I miss your footsteps down the hall,
The anticipation of your call,
I miss the sweet words that you said,
The softest hands laid upon my head.
I miss the best thing God ever thought,
The life lessons that were gently taught,
I miss the way you gave a speech,
As smooth as the waves upon the beach.
I miss the way you would laugh and smile,
To see it again I would walk a mile,
I miss that way you always cared,
The way that you would always be there.
I miss the kind things that you’d do,
Life will never be the same without you.

A beautifully crafted expression of the longing everyone has felt for someone who has gone. My favorite line: “I miss the best thing God ever thought.” High praise indeed from the poet for her loved one.
