Fountain at Place de la Concorde at night.

Have you ever seen a magical fountain,
That sparkles in the night?
So powerful that it’s like a mountain.
Have you ever seen a magical fountain,
That spreads immortal life?
Just a sip of this fountain,
And it lets you live for as long as you want to?
Have you ever seen a magical fountain,
That sparkles in the night?
Karla was in the 6th grade when she wrote this poem in 2005. The poem was in response to a study of the Spanish explorer, Ponce de Leon, and his search for the Fountain of Youth. The class was led by a friend and co-author of mine, Mrs. Linda Reih. This poem shows a wealth of “sparkling” imagination.
